There are many different styles of mermaid necklaces, here we’ll be discussing some of the most popular on the market today.
The first kind would be a single gold or silver mermaid figurine necklace.
These are usually the more expensive simply because they are made with higher quality, and real gold or silver. They will sometimes come encrusted with jewels such as diamonds or pearls. These can run anywhere between $100 to $2000. It really depends on the quality and amount of gold or silver, and how many diamonds or pearls are used.
Pros: Elegant, considered to be more ‘real jewelry’, value will normally increase over time.
Cons: More cleaning required, since it’s more expensive you have to be more careful with it, less likely to be a proper gift for young children.
The second style of mermaid necklace would be the kind of necklace a mermaid might actually wear.
It will have things like shells, starfish, sea creatures, etc. on it and will be in sea colors primarily. You can usually buy them pre-made, or buy all the pieces and create it yourself to give it that customized look and feel. It is also great for a project for children, getting them to create their own. I’ve seen the prices of these stay pretty low, usually under $30.
Pros: Cheaper than other types of mermaid jewelry, customizable.
Cons: More fragile, prone to breaking, won’t go with everything you wear.

The third type of mermaid necklace will have an actual picture of a mermaid.
The neck band can be made of leather, types of synthetic material, stones, etc. There are many, many pictures of mermaids that have been drawn over time, and this type of necklace is great for showing them off. There are some famous pictures that most lovers of mermaids have seen, and some lesser known, newer ones. These are usually around the mid-range price, going for what I’ve seen to be $20 through $150. Since they don’t normally have expensive materials like gold or diamonds the prices stay pretty affordable.
Pros: Good conversation piece, matches many outfits, interchangable pictures.
Cons: Bulky, prone to nicks and scratches.
